On the third Monday of every month, parents with little ones are invited to join us after our morning program for snacktime in our Children’s Room! We’ll have an activity and guest speaker on a variety of topics, followed by a period of free play and socialization. Light refreshments will be served.
Come learn alongside other parents and give your child (and yourself) a chance to socialize with others!
Be sure to sign up for our Youth Mailing List here to stay in the loop on cancelations and other important info!
Today’s topic: Hope Counseling and Behavioral Health Center/Music Therapy
Bekah DeMieri is a Licensed Master Social Worker and board-certified music therapist. A music therapist for over 18 years, Bekah has worked with children and families in hospitals, private/special education schools, and private practice. As a Licensed Master Social Worker in outpatient mental health, has allowed her to integrate music therapy with mental health counseling to support individuals in meaningful ways.A fun fact about Bekah is that she can usually think of a song lyric for just about any situation. It’s become such a habit that family and friends aren’t surprised when she responds to something with a line from a song!
Join her at this Library event and learn how music can support your child’s emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development. Through interactive demonstrations and discussion, caregivers will discover how singing, movement, rhythm, and play can help young children express emotions, develop communication skills, strengthen self-regulation, and build meaningful connections with caregivers. This session will explore how music can be used to support healthy child development, strengthen adult-child relationships, and encourage learning through everyday interactions. Caregivers will leave with ideas for simple, practical musical activities they can incorporate into daily routines to promote connection, emotional well-being, and developmental growth.
