In collaboration with our community partners, we are presenting an original puppet show for young children to introduce the topic of “the freedom to read.”

The first week of October is the American Library Association’s celebration of the freedom to read, called Banned Books Week. This celebration serves as a reminder and a rally call to protect intellectual freedom, which is guaranteed by the 1st Amendment of the United States Constitution.

Libraries strive to offer materials that represent a variety of interests and viewpoints. Not every book is for everyone, but we maintain a collection that offers something for everyone. Removing books from the library due to their content or author infringes on intellectual freedom. So we say, find the book for you and leave the others for someone else.
