Join us for a special presentation at the intersection of art, literature, music, activism, and community featuring Professor Jenna Freedman!

Riot grrrl offered teen girls and others the chance to be what today might be called micro-influencers, but their influence was outside of capitalism and in fact was a feminist critique of the mainstream. We will view pages from grrrl (gender expansive) authored zines that show the power of handwriting, mail, and building your own networks.

Jenna Freedman is a zine librarian, having founded the Barnard Zine Library in New York City, and a librarian zinester. She makes an annual perzine every year called Lower East Side Librarian. She is an adjunct professor in Queens College’s Information Studies program and is currently working on a book chapter on how queer and feminist archives in America are weathering the 2020s.
