Join us on Tuesday, November 3rd at 6:00pm for a history presentation by Educational Outreach Ambassador Darlene from The Institute for American Indian Studies. Darlene is a citizen of the Schaghticoke Tribal Nation and is a Traditional Native American Storyteller.
Quinnetukut: Our Homeland, Our History
Much of what we learn about Connecticut’s past comes from a colonized perspective that has almost entirely left out the voices of Indigenous people who have called this land home for over 12,000 years. How knowledge about the past is preserved and passed down in different cultures affects how history is perceived. In this presentation, participants will gain a more complete and accurate view of Connecticut’s history that takes Native people’s perspectives into account.
